In loving memory

Dr. Greg Grant 1953-2016

Gregory LeRoy Grant was born March 6, 1953 at the New Rockford, ND Community Hospital to Gordon & Mary (Koetter) Grant . (He shared his birthday with his dad.)

Greg moved with his family to Wahpeton, ND in 1959. He attended St. John’s School through 8th grade. He graduated from Wahpeton Senior High School in 1971. Greg was very active in High School athletics with football and baseball being his favorites. He was the quarterback on the football team that broke Shanley HS’s 59 game winning streak.

He went to Concordia College in Moorhead, MN where he played football . His birth date gave him a number “1” in the draft lottery conducted on February 2, 1972 during the Vietnam era and instead of waiting to be drafted, he enlisted in the Marine Corps.

After graduating from the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in 1973, Greg trained as an infantryman. At the conclusion of that training he expected to be shipped to Viet Nam as an infantryman. However, the Marine Corps had other ideas and Greg was assigned as an Honor Guard at Arlington National Cemetery and the White House. He is one of the Honor Guards pictured along the red carpet as President Nixon left the White House for the last time on August 9, 1974.

Greg returned to Moorhead and completed his education at Concordia College, graduating in 1977 with a BS degree in Biology. He taught biology and coached the football team at Sacred Heart High School in Sacred Heart, MN for 2 years. Greg then attended The Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. He received his DC in 1983. He practiced as a chiropractor in Wenatchee, WA for a short period of time >and from there he purchased a Chiropractic Clinic in Oakes, ND. Greg practiced in Oakes until 1996 at which time he moved to Fargo and worked alongside his wife, Deb, at Fargo Chiropractic.

Greg’s infectious laugh and love of life will be remembered by anyone who called Greg “Friend“. His love of sports and the outdoors was a huge part of his personality. Greg loved hunting and fishing. He passed this love onto his nieces and nephews taking them on their annual pheasant hunts. He even took his sisters fishing and showed remarkable patience with them by baiting their hooks and removing their catch!
